Early Life & Education (1971–1995)

Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. His father, Errol Musk, was an engineer, and his mother, Maye Musk, was a model and dietitian. From an early age, Musk showed an interest in technology and entrepreneurship. At 12 years old, he created and sold a video game called Blastar.

Musk attended Waterkloof House Preparatory School and later Pretoria Boys High School. Wanting to move to the U.S., he left South Africa at 17 and moved to Canada in 1989, enrolling at Queen’s University in Ontario.
